24-year old Miss Nevada, Nia Sanchez has emerged winner of Miss USA 2014 beauty pageant. Sanchez who was in a vibrant red fishtail gown outshone 50 other contestants from all the states as well as the District of Columbia on Sunday night to win the 63rd Miss USA pageant. Nia Sanchez who has a fourth-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a full-time model will represent the country at the Miss Universe 2104 beauty pageant. Nia Sanchez brilliantly replied when asked to talk about increase in intimate assault of female college students in the US referencing her martial arts skill during a 2-phased interview : I believe that some colleges may potentially be afraid of having a bad reputation and that would be a reason it could be swept under the rug, because they don’t want that to come out in public,’ Sanchez said in reply. ‘More awareness is very important so women can learn how to protect themselves,’ she added. ‘Myself, as a fourth-degree black belt, I learned at a young age that you need to be confident and be able to defend yourself. And I think that’s something we should really implement for a lot of women,’ she said. The 24-year old beauty from Las Vegas was handed the title by Miss USA 2013 winner, Erin Brady. Miss North Dakota, Audra Mari was the first runner-up.
