Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester United should turn to Ryan Giggs on a permanent basis after the Welshman was appointed caretaker boss earlier this week.
Giggs, a Red Devils veteran of over 20 years, took over the reins from David Moyes, who was shown the door at Old Trafford on Tuesday just 10 months into his six-year deal.
The midfielder will now take charge for the first time on Saturday evening at home against Norwich City, and Ferguson, who masterminded 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League crowns during his 26-year reign in Manchester, believes the player he signed as a teenager is a perfect fit for the full-time job.
"I think that he [Giggs] is the one man they should go to really," Ferguson told the Daily Telegraph.
"He's got 20-odd years of experience at Manchester United. I signed him as a kid at 13 years of age. He's gone through the gamut of emotions at the club - he's experienced all the highs and lows.
"He knows exactly what's needed to be a Manchester United player and I was so pleased he brought Paul Scholes back in, and Nicky Butt of course - two great professionals.
"They understand the club, they are hard workers, they are straight as a die. So you have got the right combinations there, there's no doubt about that."
