FAT JOE FACING TWO YEARS IN PRISON ON TAX CHARGES.
Rapper pleads guilty on failure to pay taxes on almost $3 million
Fat joe used to make it rain in the club, but now the Terror Squad leader has to scrape up over $700,000 and make it rain on Uncle Sam.
The Bronx, New York, rap veteran (whose real name is Joseph Cartagena) pleaded guilty on Thursday on charges that he failed to pay taxes on approximately $3 million he earned in 2007 and 2008. Now Joe is facing up to two years in prison and a number of fines and penalties.
The "What's Luv" MC entered the plea in a Newark, New Jersey, federal court because he owns companies in the state. When U.S. Magistrate Cathy Waldor asked if the rapper understood the charges he was facing, he answered, "I super understand it."
The judge set bail at $250,000 and Fat Joe was released. While it seems that Joey Crack is taking the necessary steps to resolve the situation, it's unclear how his apparent cooperation will factor into his sentencing when he faces the judge again on April 3. Joe's lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, said the platinum-selling star "had already taken steps to resolve this situation" before he was charged with the crime.
It's been over two years since Joe released his last solo LP, The Darkside Vol. 1, but he has been gearing up to drop his 11th album. He rolled out a number of singles, including the Chris Brown-assisted "Another Round" as well as his Kanye West collaboration,''Pride N Joy'' No word on how his current legal drama will affect the progress of his next album.

REVEALED :CHRIS BROWN WAS PAID $1 MILLION FOR LAGOS CONCERT.
Popular singer Chris Brown was paid at least $1m (about N156m) to travel down to Lagos with a 15 man crew last week, NET investigations have revealed.
The
Grammy-winning singer stopped over in South Africa, for concerts in Cape
Town and Jo’burg, before heading down to Lagos for the show.
The Lagos event, built into Brown’s on-going world tour, was organised by Kilimanjaro Events – same company that promoted Rick Ross and Anita Baker in the past.
Financial details were not made public, but we found that Oando boss Wale Tinubu was a major financier, as well as Etisalat, which provided last minute sponsorship.
Brown was to make a brief appearance at the Oando end-of-year gig, but we’re told that did not happen.
It was Brown’s second time in Nigeria, the first being for a THISDAY Music Festival performance a few years ago.
Sources told us the fees ‘could have been more’ if he was required to perform with a live band or if he had to do multiple venues or cities.
Although he performed with a DJ and backing track, with two back-up singers and four dancers, he gave a good account of himself, treating fans to almost two hours of a well-planned set that left guests asking for more.
Chris Brown’s tour will continue early next year with a scheduled performance in Cote D’Ivoire.

CHRIS BROWN WITH NIGERIAN MODEL.
American Chris Brown may have really fallen in love with everything in Nigeria, from d Artistes, to the Big Mansions,to our Shows and finally to our "women".
From sources,we learnt that breezy hooked up with one of Naija's Hottest Video Vixens Venita Marie aka Veezee(She hails from Delta state, she got fame after her feature in EME's skales video "mukulu" she was also the main character in P-square Alingo, and Tuface "Ihe neme"), after his concert, as he couldn't take his eyes off the beautiful veezee all Nigerian artistes are dying to have on the set of their music videos.
Our confidential report, says he saw breezy give her an exclusive pass through his security details, they went up the elevators of Eko Hotel together, and chilled for a while before Chris headed to his private residence where he was lodged. Hmmm, seems like breezy's just here to appreciate and enjoy our finest things.
J.LO'S TWINS ON STAGE.
Jennifer Lopez's twins Max and Emme are just four-years-old, but they are already at ease in the spotlight. The two children joined their mother, her backup dancers and toyboy Casper Smart on stage on Sunday at the end of the singer's concert in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Wearing a sequined bodysuit that
hugged her curves to perfection and matching booties, Lopez held Emme up
in one arm and waved to the adoring crowd with the other.

Clearly wanting to show he's a big boy, Max walked out on his one and charmed the crowd by presenting his mother with a single white rose.

Over the past few days, Lopez has been burning up the stage on her Dance Again world tour.

She was even joined by the children's father, Marc Anthony on Friday night to perform their duet No me Ames (Don't Love Me). And the pair seemed on more than good terms, with Jennifer putting her arm around her ex-husband as they exited the stage following the performance. However, despite the fact they appear to be good friends now, Jennifer admitted in a recent interview that she didn't cope well when the marriage ended.

Despite the fact that they appear to be good friends now, Jennifer admitted in a recent interview that she didn't cope well when the marriage ended. She said: "I was going through a divorce and the break-up of a family, which was devastating to me because family means everything to me. I didn't want to be the woman who stayed in bed for months. I did do that a little but I knew I had to get through it."

Jennifer - who is now in a relationship with 25-year-old dancer Casper Smart - was determined to become a better person and learn from the demise of her marriage. She added in an interview with HollywoodLife: "I had to figure out what I did wrong that I was in a relationship where I was accepting situations that weren't good for me. If you're allowing yourself to be in a bad relationship, you need to understand why."

PRESIDENT JONATHAN UNDER ATTACK OVER CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
President Goodluck Jonathan came under criticism from his Facebook friends on Tuesday after he posted his Christmas message on the social networking site.
The President in the message said he “personally” instructed government officials to make conditions favourable for Nigerians to celebrate the Yuletide.
The airports, he said, for instance, had been given a “facelift”, adding that the terminals were rehabilitated and the runways upgraded ahead of the festive season.
He wrote, “I want to seize this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance. I feel the pains of Nigerians and that is why this Yuletide I have personally instructed that our roads be worked on to enable you and your loved ones to travel safely for the holidays.
“Not done, we ensured that for the first time in decades, the cross country services (Lagos to Kano with stops in cities along the route) of the Nigerian Railway Corporation were revived just prior to the holidays to provide Nigerian masses with an inexpensive alternative to road and air transportation.
“This administration also took steps to increase power generation by remaining true to the Timelines of the Roadmap to Power Sector Reform, which has seen history made on Friday, December 21, when Nigeria’s power generation hit an all-time high of just over 4,500 MW.”
But no sooner had Jonathan posted the message on his wall than it was greeted with a barrage of criticisms from his friends.
While a few praised and advised the President on how to tackle the problems bedevilling the country, many others faulted his submissions.
One of his friends, Kaycee Aloy-Obi wrote, “Mr. President hold your greetings. You and your family are having great celebration. A litre of petrol is sold at N110-N120, against N97 which is the official price. There is unprecedented traffic jam on Ore-Benin road due to bad roads.
“People cannot go around to visit love ones because of insecurity. Bury your head in shame with your 4,500 MW when South Africa is generating 50,000 MW. It is paradoxical that many Nigerians are having dry Christmas in midst of plenty.”
Yusuf Suleiman, asked the president to match his words with actions, adding that his “advisers are not telling you the true picture of what is happening.”
He said, “In Nigeria today, under your watch, the country recorded the highest looting of our treasury, and you didn’t do anything. We also have seen how citizens were massacred, in fact, the highest since civil war ended (and) your government is not doing enough to stop that.”
Also, Bethel Vincent, wrote, “Haba! Mr. President, you know say lie no good at all. Why post something we have not witnessed, yet you refer to us as friends and fellow Nigerians. As I am talking to you, my flat is running on generator; Benin-Auchi road is filled with potholes and you are talking about airport, how (many) Nigerians can afford air transport?”
A friend, Ajoba David, wrote, “Sir, congratulations! Merry Christmas and a happy new year. What do we expect as a New Year gift come Tuesday, January 1st? Well, I hope it is not going to be another fuel subsidy razzmatazz like we experienced last year.
“Nevertheless, Nigerians have yet to recuperate from the fever that was injected into their veins last January as a result of the purportedly and verbally(sic) removal of the fuel subsidy which Nigerians have yet to see any sign of seriousness in bringing (those) culpable to book.”

RAID ON KENYAN COASTAL VILLAGE LEAVES 28 DEAD
Raiders killed villagers and burnt homes in an early morning attack in Kenya’s volatile coastal Tana Delta region that left 28 people dead, police said on Friday.
They said the raid appeared to have been a revenge attack following clashes between farmers from the Pokomo tribe and semi-nomadic Orma tribesmen, who have fought for years over access to grazing, farmland and water in the coastal region.
More than 100 people died in a series of attacks in the area earlier this year.
“About 150 Pokomo raiders attacked Kipao village which is inhabited by the Ormas early Friday, but the Ormas appeared to have been aware and were prepared. A confrontation ensued and as result 19 Ormas and 9 Pokomos were killed,” Robert Kitur, Coast Region deputy police chief, told reporters.
WOMAN AGREES TO MARRY HER TWIN SISTER'S KILLER
Victor Cingolani was jailed for the
2010 murder of 19-year-old model Johana Casas. Tomorrow December 22nd,
her twin sister Edith will marry the killer in Pico Truncade, Argentina,
close to the jail where he is serving 13 years for the murder of
Johana.

Johana was shot dead days before her 20th birthday in August 2010. Her ex-boyfriend, Victor Cingolani, was convicted of her murder.
Edith Casas believes Victor is not guilty of murder, insisting that her future husband is the victim of a miscarriage of justice and is backing his appeal against his murder conviction.

MICHAEL JACKSON'S GLOVE BREAKS AUCTION CHART PRINT
One of Michael Jackson’s iconic single gloves sold for nearly $200,000 in Los Angeles, an auction house said Thursday.
At $199,069, the Swarovski-crystal-encrusted glove earned the record for the highest price fetched for memorabilia from the late King of Pop, the Nate D. Sanders auction house said.
The autographs and memorabilia specialty seller said Jackson wore this black glove, a departure for the singer who had previously sported white ones, at the 1984 American Music Awards, when he was honored for “Thriller,” still the best-selling album of all time.
The megastar had originally given the glove to a terminally ill boy during a visit arranged by a charity organization. It was accompanied by a book with three Jackson autographs and an inscription that reads “My original glove, love, MJ.”
The auction house did not specify who the buyer was.
In 2010, a beaded white glove worn by Jackson sold for $192,000 in a Las Vegas auction on the first anniversary of the star’s death.
Jackson died in 2009 at age 50 from an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol as he was preparing for a series of comeback concerts.
Asked in 1999 by Barbara Walters why he wore only one glove, the mega-star replied simply, “cooler than two,” according to the auction house.
Also sold at the auction were one of the Jackson’s “Beat It” jackets, worn on the 1984 “Thriller” tour, which went for $84,422, and a drawing by French Impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir, which sold for $65,959, the auction house said.

The U.S. House passed it Tuesday and the Senate has already approved the bill which is now headed for Mr. Obama’s desk.
The law, made for Mr. Sopuruchukwu alone, allows him to remain in the U.S. despite the expiration of his visa. He will get the green card he needs to stay and study in America If Mr. Obama signs the legislation.
YAYA TOURE IS CAF PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Ivorian Yaya Toure of Manchester City
won Africa’s top football honour on Thursday, beating out his countryman
Didier Drogba and Alexandre Song of Cameroon for the CAF player of the
year award.
Toure,
29, claimed the prize for the second consecutive year, capping a season
where he helped guide his club to the English Premier League title,
their first in 44 years.
His crucial double against Newcastle in May made for a dramatic chapter in City’s championship bid as the club ultimately edged out bitter rival Manchester United on goal differential in a nailbitting finish.
The giant midfielder appeared to tear up as his name was called at the ceremony in Ghana’s capital.
“I have a lot of emotion,” he said after climbing the stage to accept the award. “I think this night is so special for me.”
He has been praised by City’s manager Roberto Mancini for his ability to fill so many roles.
Toure has voiced hope of a prolonged stay at the club and has predicted that more titles could be on the way.
He also remains a crucial component of the Ivory Coast national side, a perennial contender for the African Cup of Nations crown.
Ivory Coast narrowly lost to Zambia at the last continental tournament, reaching the final thanks in part to strong play from Toure, who said the side will have to win some hard contests if it hopes to reclaim the cup.
“I think this year is going to be tough. I think there’s going to be a fight to be at the top,” he said after accepting the award.
Toure’s second CAF honour came on a night when Drogba, the former Chelsea star now playing Shanghai Shenhua, was in line for his third win.
Drogba was seeking to take a step closer to Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o's record four trophies but described his fellow Ivorian as a deserving winner who has played with impressive “consistency over the last two years.”
“Being in competition against Yaya and Alex was for me very difficult,” said the striker. “For me, I don’t mind if Yaya wins. I’m very proud.”
Song, a 25-year-old up-and-coming midfielder, was nominated for the first time this year, after a season that included strong play for Arsenal before his transfer to Barcelona.

GIRL BATHED WITH ACID BY FIANCE IS DEAD.
Her death is coming six weeks after the November 5 attack that left her without the use of her nose, eyes and mouth – she was fed through a pipe, connected to her neck.
Chika’s father, Matthew, who was at pains at the loss of his daughter, stood at the front of the mortuary, looking forlorn as he relived her last moments amid sobs: “Her body has been transferred to the mortuary. She died around 1am today (Thursday).
“I looked at her about four days ago and realised her eyes had changed. The doctors later told me the eyes were condemned. She really suffered these past three days. I prayed to God that if it was His wish, God should take her life so that her suffering would cease. She suffered so much.
“The police have come to get the necessary details. The investigating police officer said he had to go to the court in order to prepare documents that will authorise an autopsy.”
While urging the police authorities to hasten up the process to enable him to take the body of his daughter for burial after the autopsy, Matthew revealed that his wife had not been informed about their daughter’s death. He said she would probably be informed today.
JOSE MOURINHO V SIR ALEX FERGUSON.
I Cannot Wait To Take On Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid- Ferguson.
Ferguson will renew his old rivalry
with Mourinho, and Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Old Trafford to face
his former team-mates.

“It’s the tie of the round,” Ferguson told United’s official website. “It’s a great opportunity for our fans to see Cristiano again and also for me to meet up with Jose again – I’ll need to order some good wine!”
United defender Rio Ferdinand played in the 2003 match against Real, and he tweeted: “Oh yes, Madrid!! What a great couple a games that’ll be!! @Cristiano see u soon bro!!”
Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno is also excited by the draw.
“I think the fans will be very very happy with the tie, it’s very attractive. It’s going to be a thrilling experience for everybody,” he told Sky Sports.
“Manchester United are a great team and a great organisation, one of the most prestigious in the world. So we are very happy. We have a very good relationship with them.
“We know it is going to be difficult, a very even tie. They are a very strong team with great leadership – Sir Alex Ferguson has been there for 25 years. He’s a fantastic manager and he knows how to make the most out of his players.
“So we know it’s going to be very, very difficult. But we are Real Madrid – we will do our best and rise to the occasion.”
Real’s Ronaldo will face his former team and Butragueno said: “It’s going to be a special game for him. He’s a great professional and he will do his best for Real Madrid. So yes, going back there, it will be very special for him.
“From the players’ perspective, they will think ‘I want to show what I’m made of’. It is going to be important for us to get our injured players back and I hope we will be at our best for the first leg. In football, you never know.”
Manchester United club secretary John Alexander said the meeting of the two European aristocrats is the pick of the ties.
“It is the tie that everybody wanted to see, but nobody wanted to see – they wanted to save it for later in the competition,” he said.
“Out of several stand-out ties, I think this is the one, with the traditions of the two clubs in this competition and their past history.”

FIRE AT MURTALA MUHAMMED INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
Fire At Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA)

A small electrical fire was on Thursday morning reported at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
An eyewitness said the fire emanated from some cables, which apparently melted under heat, as some welders were working at the extension of ‘D’ Wing of the international airport.
Airport officials swiftly cut off power supply to the arrival and departure terminals, in order to forestall any untoward development and isolated the scene of the spark.
Fire fighters were also deployed in the affected area and were able to put the situation under control.
Securitymen also erected a metal barricade around the site.
Power supply was restored to the airport terminal within a few minutes.
Flight operations were, however, not affected while the incident lasted.

And in New York, a gathering of the Nigerian diplomatic and military intelligence machinery in the United States, for the decoration-of-rank ceremony of Commander Saburi Abayomi Lawal promoted Navy Captain was occasion for sober reflection on the state of the nation’s defense personnel.
Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Professor Joy Ogwu said the Nigerian military needs reinvention as well as a sustenance of its ideology and doctrine which enabled the nation to pursue it’s decolonization and Afro-centric diplomacy successfully in the years gone by.
Ogwu, herself a soldier’s daughter and former teacher at Nigeria’s military institutions maintained that Nigerian younger officers must navigate through the waters of order and rank to speak truth to power in determining the direction of the country’s military and it’s ability to protect the nation’s territorial integrity including other more specific operations for which it was set up.
She said: “NNS Aradu was launched in 1982. It was a geo- territorial flagship of our navy. What is the state of our capability today? Many have spoken of deterioration of facilities. How did it happen that South Africa could put a military boat near our shores over Cote d’Ivoire and we had no response. The concept of order should not deter you from speaking truth to power. What are you going to hand over to the younger generation? Dead operational vessels? The navy is the guardian of our domestic economy. What happened to the concept of the coastal guard? You cannot build on a vacuum.
“Our naval motto: ‘Onward Together’, epitomizes today’s ceremony.
I learnt many things from the military. The working method, discipline working order and commitment. Today, the Nigerian military is perhaps the last bastion of discipline in Nigeria. That is why I have consistently advocated that our officers be made ambassadors. The nation gains from that. It is important for us to emulate the best practices in our system.”
Also at the event were Nigeria’s Defense Adviser to the US , Brig-, Lt Colonel Julius Osifo, the Consul-General of the Nigerian Mission in New York, Habib Habu as well as the deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Usman Saki as well as officers at the Mission.
Ogunewe stressed that strict professionalism and unwavering focus as a policy is being implemented in such a way as the enhance the capability of the Charging Navy Captain Saburi Abayomi Lawal, on the defense of Nigeria’s interests abroad, Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Usman Sarki, said the officer, who is an economist by training, was being elevated at the time Nigeria needs to make progress.
“The red tab that you wear on your shoulders carries weight. You are representing a great country. You have to see yourself first as a Nigerian.
Now, the economics of all our procurements will have to be in place. Your knowledge will be needed badly as we strive for best practices in our engagement with states as well as in the multilateral sector such as the UN,” he added.
The recipient promised to meet the expectations of the nation and the demands of future challenges.

MINISTER FOR NIGER DELTA HAS FIVE UNDECLARED ABUJA PROPERTIES.
The Anti-Corruption Network yesterday claimed that it has uncovered five landed property newly acquired by Niger Delta Minister Godsday Orubebe within three years in Abuja.
Executive Secretary of the group, Dino Melaye, showed purported documents to prove this allegation to newsmen in Abuja yesterday, but Daily Trust could not immediately verify authenticity of the documents.
Melaye said a construction company built a mansion for the minister less than six months after the company received a contract to build part of a highway in the Niger Delta. Melaye claimed that some of the five properties owned by the minister were not declared to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
“Elder Orubebe as a minister in the last three years has been acquiring choice properties in highbrow locations in Abuja. One of the properties with certificate of occupancy for Plot 2722, Kyami District in Abuja. The plot contains 1883.63 square meters. Another is Plot 2460 in Maitama, Plot 1736 in the Guzape area of Abuja in which certificate of occupancy was issued in 2008 and another Plot 2057 in Asokoro,” he said. He called on President Jonathan to demonstrate his seriousness in the anti-corruption crusade by sacking Orubebe.
Efforts to reach Niger Delta Ministry’s spokesman Fidelis Usamo for comments failed. He neither picked his calls nor responded to text a message sent to his phone yesterday.
Reacting to the call by the Melaye group for the demolition of Orubebe’s property, FCT Minister’s spokesperson, Jamila Tangaza, said the “FCT Development Control is a competent department of the FCT authority. They do not need any self-appointed group to tell them what structures to demolish or otherwise.”
HOW AIDES PITCHED YAKOWA AGAINST ME-GOVERNOR YERO.
Yero: How aides pitched Yakowa against me
[Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero with the late Yakowa’s widow Amina and her children, during a valedictory state executive council session in honour of the late governor at the Governmnet House in Kaduna yesterday. ]
Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero yesterday gave an account of how he was chosen to be deputy governor for the late Patrick Yakowa in 2010 and how commissioners later on created a chasm between him and his boss.
Yero was sworn in on Sunday following the death of Yakowa in a helicopter crash that also killed five others on Saturday in Bayelsa State.
Speaking at a valedictory state executive council session in honour of the late governor, Yero also said he reconciled with his former boss just two weeks ago.
“Two weeks ago, it was me and him alone, my late boss told me that commissioners and some civil servants told him that I’m complaining that I’m not being carried along in the government,” the governor said.
“I told him that I don’t have any link with the commissioners, we only meet during executive council meetings. I also told him if he continued to listen to them, we will not work with him well.”
Yero said they resolved to disregard the commissioners and forge ahead.
“I told him I’ll always consider him as my father and he told me he will always see me as his brother. I told him that the misunderstanding was as a result of communication gap. I also told him I was more closer (sic) to him when I was commissioner than when I was deputy governor,” he said.
“Before we parted that day, he told me that I should always let him know if I have anything in mind. I also told him that he should always look at my age and my experience compared to his. I parted away with my late boss without any rancor.”
In May 2010, following the appointment of then-Governor Namadi Sambo as vice president and Yakowa’s elevation to the position of governor, Yero was chosen to become deputy governor.
Yero, a political protégé of the vice president, was widely seen as a Sambo imposition on Yakowa.
But he said yesterday Yakowa willingly picked him to become his deputy.
“When my late boss became governor I went to congratulate him in his house along with one other commissioner at that time. When we were (leaving), he called me back and brought out a sheet of paper containing names of six persons from his pocket. He showed me, I saw my name and those of two other members of the state executive council,” he said.
“He told me that the list was given to him as an advice in the event he wants to chose his deputy. My late boss said even if my name was not on the list, he will pick me because he doesn’t want the Vice President to take me away from Kaduna state.
“I told him that if Allah wanted us to work together, we will. So I went back and I joined the people we went with. I did not tell them what we discussed.”
He said few days after, he was formally notified of his selection to become deputy governor.
Yero also extolled the virtues of Yakowa, saying his late boss was a very patient leader and that this was the secret of his success.
He assured the family of the late governor that the state government will take care of them.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Birnin Gwari Alhaji Jibril Zubair has denied the report that emirs have endorsed Yakowa’s widow Amina for appointment as deputy governor.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, Zubair said he was the only emir at the Government House on Sunday from 10am to 3pm and that he did not say anything about endorsing her.
“This clarification became necessary, because I have been inundated with phone calls from many of my associates and well wishers when the news story was published on Monday. I only submitted a letter of condolence on behalf of Jama’atu Nasril Islam to the deceased’s family,” he said.
“Southern Kaduna elders led by General Zamani Lekwot also met him at the Government House, where they canvassed for peace in Kaduna State. The issue of deputy governorship never featured throughout when I was in Government House.
HOUSE OF REPS REVOKE DANA LICENSE!
House revokes Dana license, asks Jimoh Ibrahim to refund N36bn.
The House of Representatives yesterday called on the Federal Government to revoke the license of Dana Airlines following a probe of the Dana airliner MD 83 crash which killed 153 persons in Lagos in June. MPs unanimously adopted the report of the National Assembly joint committee on crash which also recommended that the Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Dr. Harold Demuren be relieved of his post and face prosecution.
“Dana current Air Operating Certificate (AOC) should be revoked because it was not issued in compliance with the NCAA civil regulations guideline 2009”
Also, the House passed resolution stopping the ministry of aviation or any other agency or persons from interfering with the autonomy of NCAA.
The House also called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to recover the N35.5 billion which was extended to Air Nigeria owned by business mogul Jimoh Ibrahim through UBA which “was diverted for other uses”.
It also called for the re-opening of investigation on the report of Bellview Airlines and other accident investigation reports.
